I do need some serious work on my panning and shooting skills but maybe it can get the thoughts flying. Don't forget to lead them!!!!!!!!!!

I am still learning the issues with my camera. I need to get into some serious tripod stuff since all of these are hand held and I am missing perfect focus by a touch. By the way, spending time in the outdoors can reward you with some other awesome views.

This was an Osprey that I caught coming to a nest. I don't believe the young were still there at the time but it was still using it as a resting point. The angle I had created some very serious back lighting but hopefully next year in the spring I can capitalize on this find.

Fantastic photos. Gave me chills, those pictures of the birds cupped in.

Looks like you've got a good spot for when the season opens.

Great pictures Rick, where were you at? Really like the woody drake, for my money they are the 2nd prettiest bird there is, with a rooster pheasant being 1st. IMO

Rick Nothing definite in mind at this point, but I am open to suggestions, I keep saying that I am going to do more duck hunting than I have in recent years. I figured it was somewhere relatively close to my place up north knowing where you are located, great job with the camera. I haven't seen an osprey in ages, we usually see bald eagles on the Big & Little M rivers, infact we have a nesting pair on the back of my property.

GREAT PICTURES!!! In a recent article that the Rutland Herald posted it states that you can only shoot "resident" Canadian Geese right now, you can't shoot the "non resident" Canadian Geese till October.... How do you tell... do they honk with an accent if they are a "non resident" goose? hee hee hee hee

Here in Michigan we must ask for identification before firing!!
I love journalists that try and act intelligent about topics they don't understand. Most of the time, early goose seasons are set well in advance of the migration so that local resident geese are the targets. Some have made a big deal about a slight size difference but during standard hunting even that flys out the window. Since most of this years chicks are still only about 2/3 their full size, you tell me which strain is smaller when they are landing all over you. Nope, no such regulation especially here in Michigan. Season dates take care of it. Rick :D

A non-resident goose will go, HHOOONNNKKAAA. Other than that you might want to ask for a passport. :D

Some great shots there Rick! I would have loved to go out with hubby this past early goose season and gotten some pictures but unfortunately, while he was out having a good time, I was stuck working - ugh.
