Hey anyone interested in getting together for a morning goose hunt somewhere in michigan on the 31st of dec? I will be visiting home dec 23- jan 1 and I believe that the season is closed until the 31st. If anyone is game maybe we can figure something out. Jim
Where are you thinking? Most of the lakes around here are starting to freeze and by the end of December there won't be many geese left. I might be willing if you have a good place to hunt. Rick

I didnt think of the freezing, I was thinking maybe a field. I just wanna go do some hunting while im home. I havnt hunted Mich in years. I thought maybe there would be more birds still hanging round. I might have to switch gears and chase somethin else while im home. Im game for anything that is open to shoot at!
Late goose is always weather dependent. Look for fields near rivers if the lakes are solid. I'm usually focusing on ducks for the 2 days (Dec 31/Jan1) and then start looking for geese.
Pheasant will be open in part of the state during your time here if you can get private land access. I've come to prefer this late season to the regular season.

The way the weather is running right now you might better bring some camo shorts and t-shirts with you.
Still plenty of geese around here right now (Jackson County). I know guys that do pretty well north of Ann Arbor most years in the late hunt. Huron River seems to hold a lot of birds unless we get deep snow that covers the food or BITTER cold.
Have a safe trip,

We may be hunting in short sleeves tomorrow. It's suppose to be 75 - 80, but windy. Which may be good.
Well it looks like muddy corn field hunts for this weekend. Temps in the 40's and rain for Sunday's opener. There are ducks and geese all over so nailing down the hot field will be the challenge. I may even have to pull out the canoe for a lake hunt. Plenty of really nice looking divers still around. My taxidermist must be loving this season's weather.

Yeah, it looks like my Midland spots are not going to happen. I'm going to be trying my luck in a field over here. There were some birds using it the other day, so who knows? Good luck everyone. . .I wish I knew of a spot for ducks for the two days, but I'll take the geese if they cooperate.
