Teal season opened here on the 9th, and I saw two one day, and about 75-100 the next. I hunted a pond that was about 3' deep & used mallard & teal decoys. I purchased the Primos Teal Pak that called them in like mice to cheese. Good time had by all. Sierra couldn't find one of the downed birds. The bird was only injured and landed about 150-200 yards from where we were positioned in the cattails. She went out about 100 yards, then started quartering back. I need to work on my hand signals!!

Any other September Teal hunters have any luck?

We don't get a specific season just for teal up here. Our season does open in Souther Ontario on the 23rd but if I drive north 2 hours I can start duck hunting the Ontario Central region this weekend.
The good thing is that we have alread had a good early goose season so far.
I can hardly wait to get into the duck season and our grouse season also opens soon.

Jeremy,

Me and Bear have been looking for the blue wings, but so far no luck. It's still very hot in East Texas, and the water is very low, tough to find any huntable ponds or pot holes. We have found a few holes that the woodies are using, that hold promise for the big ducks later. I'm not giving up though, I have another spot to scout tomorrow, that no one else knows about........

I know there's gonna be teal in South East Louisiana, where I usually make my teal hunts, but we'll need a major cool front to knock down the skeeters, before I'm going out there. The South Louisiana mosquito is almost as bad as the worst mosquitos I have ever encountered in my 50 years: Alaska. Trust me.

We do not have a certain season either. Duck opens on Sept 30. We were out early goose hunting and teal were flying everywhere! They were flying as low as 3-4 feet above our heads as we sat in the cat tails. It was very easy to see the blue and green wings!
