Look at any low cost double reed duck call. The quakerboy raspy quack master is a great call and so is the Haydell DR-85.
Buck Gartner has a good tape out with instructions on how to use them as well. Practice practice and more practice and they will be calling the ducks in for you this fall.
I love teaching kids how to blow a call. They tend to listen and mimick what they see very well and the usually pick it up very fast!!
Good luck and let us know how they do.

I like all the Haydel calls, and I have a couple of calling tapes that I practice with every year. I've been duck hunting for over 20 years, but still bone up on my calling in the late summer, 'corse I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the greatest caller in the marsh, but I've turned one or two birds around in my time.

Have fun with the kids!

My son is 7-1/2 years old and really into hunting already, which is awesome. I'm getting him the Youth "Intro Ducktion" package from Mack's Prairie Wings for his birthday. It comes with a RNT(Rich-N-Tone) call, a cd or dvd (can't remember), lanyard, and a camo hat, for about $35?. May sound like a bit pricey, but they have great stuff, and you can return anything without a hassle if it's not up to snuff. These guys are the best there is for calls and waterfowl equipment out there.

I love haydel and primo calls. I have some beautiful wood calls but don't hunt them much anymore since the plastic are darn near indestructable. Don't let them take their calls apart ( they come factory tuned )! Usually about late summer I get out all my training audios, pop them in the car and practice, practice, practice ( which explains why I don't have many car pool buddies :D ... My two and a half year old son loves it though :) . Try to find calls that were designed for your area. If you buy used calls at gun shows or ebay always remember the "cooties" factor and that someone may have taken them apart at some point and they may no longer be factory tuned - not a problem if you know how to tune them...The most important thing is to have fun. If someone makes an errant or bad call no biggy... if you sit in the marsh long enough you will here some pretty goofy sounding ducks ha ha...

LOL! boy that's the truth! more than once, I've been in the marsh listening to what I figured was some idiot just screwing around with his duck call. Several times, after finally getting enough of it, and looking to see who the jerk was... it was a duck!!
