Don't be fooled by the term "HIT"
As explained by techterms.org: Technically, a hit is a request made to a Web server. It is a popular misconception that the term refers to the number of visits a Web page gets, but that is not the case. If a Web page has five images on it, when the page is loaded, six "hits" will be recorded. This is because the browser has to make six requests to the Web server - one for the HTML of the Web page and five for the images.

Many online advertisers brag about the number of "hits" their site receives in a month or a year - and then charge an ad rate as if those "hits" represented people visiting their site. To put our number of visitors in perspective, we have about 250,000 hits per month. So when all is said and done hits are not the telling number… it's VISITORS and UNIQUE VISITORS that matter. Also, we have subtracted the traffic generated by robots, worms or replies with special HTTP status codes, so the numbers we stated above are actual people who are interested in Gun Dogs and Gun Dog Related Activities.
